Capabilities
Since 1984, Mike Swihart has treated victims of sexual
abuse, sexual disorders and
addictions in Northern Indiana. He
was on staff at Elkhart General Hospital for years and has established a private
practice, C.A.R.E. Counseling, in 1989.
C.A.R.E. Counseling provides individual, marriage,
family and group therapy for clients struggling with severe sexual issues. Mike
also has extensive experience in treating clients who struggle with multiple
addictions and Dual Diagnoses (addiction/ mental illness)
Mike and his brother Barney established the ministry of S.T.A.R.T. (Sexual Transformation And Reconciliation Together). They
conduct intensive seminars and retreats addressing sexual addictions.
S.T.A.R.T. is currently in the process of establishing a residential
program providing intense treatment and structure for those struggling with
sexual addictions.
Mike is available as a resource consultant to pastors,
churches, schools, and other community organizations.

Mike received a B.A. degree in Theological Studies at
Miami Christian College in Miami, Florida,
and an M.A. in counseling from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake,
Indiana. He is a Licensed Social
Worker and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He resides in the Elkhart community in Northern Indiana with
Bevan, his wife since 1981, and three daughters, Kallay, Kira and Karissa.
